Microsoft officially announced Windows 11 on June 24, 2021. The company also said that Windows 11 will be available to all supported Windows 10 devices as a free upgrade later this year. Windows 11 introduces several new features and improvements that include a redesigned Start Menu and Taskbar, new Themes, and a personalized feed with widgets.

Windows 11 Release Date

Microsoft didn't talk about the final release date of Windows 11 yet. But, according to some rumors, Microsoft to release the final RTM version of Windows 11 in the month of October 2021. Recently an official driver release note from Intel also hints about Windows 11 October 2021 Update.

 

So, at this moment, we can expect the launch of Windows 11 (RTM) at the mid or end of .

 

Windows 11 Minimum system requirements

  • Windows 11 will require 1 gigahertz (GHz) or a faster processor with 2 or more cores on a compatible 64-bit system or System on a Chip (SoC).
  • It will require a minimum of 4 GB RAM, and 64 GB or larger storage device.
  • DirectX 12 compatible graphics / WDDM 2.x.
  • UEFI/Secure Boot
  • Trusted Platform Module (TPM) version 2.0

    *Trusted Platform Module (TPM) is a big factor in order to get Windows 11 on your system. Even though you meet most of the other minimum requirements, the unavailability of TPM may block getting Windows 11.


  • High definition (720p) display that is greater than 9” diagonally, 8 bits per color channel.
  • Windows 11 Home edition requires internet connectivity and a Microsoft account to complete device setup on first use.
  • Switching a device out of Windows 11 Home in S mode also requires internet connectivity.
  • For all Windows 11 editions, internet access is required to perform updates and to download and take advantage of some features.

How to download Windows 11 preview build

Windows 11 preview builds are meant for those users who want to experience Windows 11 before final release. These set of users test every preview builds and report issues that they discover while running. As these builds are from active development, contains many known and unknown bugs that may crash your system. In such cases, you may have to reset or format your system to get back the desktop.

 

Try these preview builds only if you are an advanced user. It is always recommended to install Windows preview builds in a spare test environment. In case something goes wrong, it won't impact your daily work.

 

 

To get the latest Windows 11 Preview Builds, you need to be a Windows Insider. Follow the steps mentioned below to grab the latest Windows 11 Preview build:

  1. If you are not an insider, first register yourself as a Windows Insider on the Microsoft site.
  2. Now, open the Windows 10 Settings app [Win + I] and navigate to Update & Security > Windows Insider Program.
  3. Login with the same Microsoft Account (MSA) credentials that you used to register yourself in the Windows Insiders site (STEP 1 to follow).
  4. Choose a channel* from the available list. If you want to be the first to get new updates and can handle some issues and bugs, you might want to try the "Dev Channel".
    * Currently the Windows 10 builds are flighting through Dev Channel only and soon will rollout to the Beta Channel.
  5. Restart your system for the changes to take effect.
  6. Now open the Windows 10 Settings app once again and navigate to Update & Security > Windows Update.
  7. Click the "Check for Updates" button to get the latest Windows 11 Preview build.
