Microsoft has announced that it is rolling out its Phone Link feature for iOS on Windows 11 globally. While the feature has been available for Android users, Microsoft has made it easier for iPhone owners to connect with their Windows PC.

With Phone Link for iOS, users can make and receive calls, send messages via iMessage, access contacts, and view phone notifications on their Windows laptops. The app connects to the phone via Wi-Fi, mobile data network, or instant hotspot.

Once enabled, the app will offer basic iOS support for calls, messages, and access to contacts.

Users will receive notifications on their Windows PC even if their phone is tucked away during a presentation or focus time, and they can choose which action to take. Additionally, Microsoft's iCloud integration with Photos makes it easy for users to access their iPhone photos on their PC within the Photos app in Windows 11.

To link an iPhone or Android phone with a Windows 11 PC, users need to make sure that both the PC and phone are nearby, turned on, and connected to the same network. The functionalities of Phone Link can be accessed from a PC as long as both devices are online.

System Requirements

Android Phones

The Phone Link app allows users to connect their Android, Samsung, or select HONOR devices to their Windows PC. This connection enables users to manage their Android device's notifications, reply to messages, view recent photos, and use their favorite mobile apps on their PC.

To use the Phone Link app, users need a PC running Windows 10 (with the May 2019 Update or later) or Windows 11, an Android device running Android 7.0 or later, and both devices need to be connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

iPhone/iOS devices

The Microsoft Phone Link allows syncing your Windows 11 PC with your iPhone. To use the app, open Phone Link on your PC and follow the instructions for pairing and permissions. You can also download Link to Windows on your iPhone, but it's not required. The Phone Link app lets you read and reply to text messages, make and receive calls, and manage notifications on your iPhone using your PC.

The app requires a PC running Windows 11 and an iOS device running iOS 14 or later. If downloading the Link to Windows, ensure the latest app version 1.23031.2 or later is installed for optimal pairing.
