Windows 11 Canary Channel Build
The Canary Channel is where platform changes that need more time to develop before being made available to customers can be previewed. The builds that will be made available to Insiders through the Canary Channel will be "hot off the presses", meaning that virtually little validation and documentation will have been done before they are made available.

These builds might have serious flaws that prevent you from using your computer properly or, in rare instances, even force you to reinstall Windows.

Windows and some of the Canary Channel updates that Microsoft makes may never go live, while others may eventually appear in new versions of Windows.

Microsoft Changes Windows 11 Branch Name to ZN_RELEASE for Improved Insider Testing

One of the changes that Windows Insiders may notice with this latest build is that the name of the branch shown in the desktop watermark has been changed to ZN_RELEASE. Microsoft has stated that this change is being made so that the company can more easily move Insiders between branches as engineers work in development cycles internally. As a result of this change, some features have been temporarily removed. However, Microsoft has assured users that these features will be brought back to Insiders in the future.

It's important to note that builds from the ZN_RELEASE branch should not be viewed as being matched to a specific Windows 11 release. As Microsoft continues to develop Windows 11, they will prioritize work being done in a specific branch and may need to move Insiders between branches.

Microsoft's New Widget Picker Experience for Windows 11 Insiders Adds Deep Linking and Store Collection Page

Microsoft has announced that they are rolling out a new widget picker experience to Windows Insiders in the Canary and Dev Channels. This new experience includes a visual preview of the widget before pinning, as well as a deep linking ability that allows users to jump directly to the picker from the provider app/service. Additionally, users will be able to access a link to the widgets Store collection page where they can discover more apps with widgets.

With this new feature, Windows 11 users will be able to easily access widgets and personalize their desktop experience. The deep linking ability will make it more convenient for users to customize their widgets and access relevant information quickly. The Store collection page will also provide users with a wide selection of apps to choose from, making it easy to find new widgets that suit their needs.

The rollout of this new widget picker experience is expected to be gradual and will first be made available to Windows Insiders in the Canary and Dev Channels. As always, Microsoft encourages users to provide feedback on this latest update to help shape the future of Windows 11.
