What’s new and improved in Windows 11 Build 25276?

Create live kernel memory dumps in Task Manager

Microsoft has added a number of new developer-focused Task Manager tools to help with the gathering of live kernel memory dumps (LKDs) with the release of Windows 11 Build 25276. Along with the current "Memory dump" for user mode processes, this is also available.

The purpose of a kernel live dump is to gather information for troubleshooting an anomalous circumstance while still enabling the OS to function. When compared to a bug check for "non-fatal" but high-impact failures and hangs, this minimizes downtime.

When you right-click on the System process in Task Manager's Details page and select "Create live kernel memory dump file", a context menu should appear with the option to record a full live kernel or kernel stack memory dump.

The dumps will be stored in a predetermined place: "%LocalAppData%\Microsoft\Windows\TaskManager\LiveKernelDumps".

Updates to your cloud storage in settings for Windows 11

Microsoft included a visual overview of your cloud storage consumption in the Settings app in November. You may view updates to the Microsoft 365 services and app data stored in your cloud storage on this page. Outlook attachment data, as shown on the graphic with today's version, will be included in your cloud storage.

Not everyone will immediately notice this shift because it will be implemented gradually, starting with a select group of insiders.

Other improvements in Windows 11 Build 25276

In order to adopt the new Windows 11 design, Microsoft modified the popup that indicates when an app has a known compatibility issue. You can run into problems with the dialogue in the dark theme because it is still being worked on.

In order to match the look of the search box on the taskbar, the Start menu search box has been redesigned with more rounded corners.

The updated Windows Security (firewall) notification dialogues that correspond with the Windows 11 graphics that the company delivered with Build 25267 have been temporarily deactivated. After addressing several bugs, Microsoft will re-introduce this update in a subsequent flight.

Even if the remote server requires guest credentials, Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 25267 and later Pro editions no longer permit a user to connect to a remote share by utilizing guest credentials by default. To further enhance Windows 11's default security, this mirrors the more robust security features seen in the Enterprise and Education editions that have been available since Windows 10.
