Updated Touch Keyboard Settings

With the release of Windows 11 Build 25188, Microsoft is now trying out a new touch keyboard setting for Windows 11. The new setting replaces the “Show the touch keyboard when there’s no keyboard attached” checkbox under Settings > Time & language > Typing > Touch keyboard with a new dropdown menu. It contains the following three options to control whether tapping an edit control should launch the touch keyboard:

• “Never” - This option suppresses the touch keyboard even when no hardware keyboard is attached.
• “When no keyboard attached” - This option shows the touch keyboard only when the device is used as a tablet without the hardware keyboard.
• “Always” - This option shows the touch keyboard even when the hardware keyboard is attached.

Microsoft said that this setting is gradually rolling out to the insiders, and hence isn’t available to all Insiders just yet. Based on the feedback received from the insiders, it will be rolled out to more users.

Windows Terminal is now the default terminal

With this build, Microsoft now sets the Windows Terminal as the default terminal in Windows 11. This means all command-line applications will open in Windows Terminal automatically. If you want, you can change this setting by navigating to Settings > Privacy & security > For developers page. For this to work, Windows Terminal version 1.15 or greater is required.

Wi-Fi and VPN Settings

Microsoft says that the Wi-Fi and VPN properties pages in Settings have been updated in this build to include a link to advanced properties for that network.
