What's new and improved in Windows 11 Build 25179

File Explorer tabs for everyone

File explorer tabs and navigation updates were first previewed in Windows 11 Build 25136 in the Dev Channel. Later, it was previewed to Beta Channel insiders also with the build 22621.160. Earlier this feature was limited to a set of insiders, but with the latest Windows 11 Build 25179, it will be available to all insiders in the Dev Channel.

Once enabled, the tabs will reside at the top, just like Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, or any other windows supporting tab view. It will also show you a refreshed layout of the left navigation pane of File Explorer which makes it easy for you to navigate to folders. The updated layout provides you easy access to your pinned and frequently used folders (Quick access) and your OneDrive cloud profiles added to Windows.

In case after installing the Windows 11 Insiders Preview Build 25179 you don’t see these features right away, Microsoft suggests you try rebooting your system.

The spelling dictionary to use a language-neutral word list

With the latest insiders build, Microsoft is now trying out a new feature that will sync the spelling dictionary across all devices that use the same Windows account. The feature is currently limited to Microsoft accounts only with AAD support coming later.

You can toggle this feature via Settings > Accounts > Windows backup > Remember my preferences > Language preferences.

Along with this feature, Microsoft is now also adding a language-natural word list for the spelling dictionary.

Keyboard improvements with support for Tamil users

With the latest Windows 11 Build 25179, Microsoft added the Tamil Anjal keyboard for Tamil users. This keyboard is currently rolling out to a subset of Insiders while we evaluate the quality, says Microsoft.

With this build, Microsoft also added a small tweak to improve the key repeat rate for the traditional touch keyboard layout, as well as the default touch keyboard layout. With this improvement, the key press will look more responsive.
