As it is the second Tuesday of the month, it's time for patching all supported versions of Microsoft Windows operating systems. Being the eighth patch of the year, Microsoft now started rolling out the Windows 10 August 2022 Patch Tuesday (KB5016616) update for versions 20H2, 21H1, 21H2, and Windows 11 August 2022 Patch Tuesday (KB5016629) update for version 21H2.

Windows 10 Patch Tuesday (KB5016616) update is now available

What's new and improved in Windows 10 KB5016616 update

Addresses an issue that might cause the Local Security Authority Server Service (LSASS) to leak tokens. This issue affects devices that have installed Windows updates dated June 14, 2022 or later. This issue occurs when the device performs a specific form of service for user (S4U) in a non-Trusted Computing Base (TCB) Windows service that runs as Network Service.

 

Apart from this, the Windows 10 KB5011487 update also addresses the following issues:

  • Addresses a known issue that might prevent the Input Indicator and Language Bar from displaying in the notification area. This issue affects devices that have more than one language installed.
  • Addresses an issue that creates a duplicate print queue. This causes the original print queue to lose functionality.
  • Addresses an issue that affects the printing of files you submit to a printer.
  • Addresses a known issue that might prevent the Input Indicator and Language Bar from displaying in the notification area. This issue affects devices that have more than one language installed.
  • Addresses security issues for your Windows operating system.

 

REMINDER: Windows 10, version 2004 reached the end of servicing on December 14, 2021. To continue receiving security and quality updates, Microsoft recommends that you update to the latest version of Windows 10.
