One of the most popular media player software "VLC Media Player" has been banned by the Government of India. According to the reports, the government has blocked VLC two months ago. But neither the government nor the related organizations have revealed anything further about the reason for the ban.

VLC media player banned in India, all download links closed

Some recent reports claim that Chinese hacking groups use the platform used by VLC to carry out cyber attacks. Just a few months ago, the Chinese hacking group 'Cicada' was seen using VLC's platform to carry out cyber attacks. Harmful malware enters through VLC computer or mobile only.

But the exact reason behind the VLC ban in India is still unclear. Because the government has not informed us anything about this yet. All major internet providers like ACT Fibernet, Jio, and Vodafone Idea have also stopped VLC. As a result, the VLC Media Player cannot be downloaded or accessed on that website (VideoLan).

It should be noted that the Indian government has recently blocked hundreds of Chinese apps including PUBG Mobile, TikTok, and CamScanner. Apart from this, the Indian version of the PUBG Mobile known as BGMI has also been blocked in the country a few days ago and the game has already been removed from Google Play Store or Apple App Store.

According to the government, these apps are sending users' personal data to servers in China; and that's why these apps are being banned in India.

However, VLC Media Player is not made by a Chinese company, as I said earlier, it is made by VideoLAN, a Paris-based company. In that case, it is still not clear why VLC has been banned in this country.
