Last month, the Microsoft Edge version 104 was released to the Beta Channel Edge Insiders. With that release, Microsoft added new policy settings to turn ON/OFF the first run experience of the Chromium Edge browser.

Now the company has released another update, version 104.0.1293.44, that now enables enhanced security on the web by default to all users. For more details, continue reading further.

Microsoft Edge 104 enables enhanced security by default

What's new in Microsoft Edge (Beta) version 104.0.1293.44?

The Enhanced Security settings in Microsoft Edge (Chromium) browser is a feature that makes the browser more secure. It enables web security by disabling the Just-in-time compiler (JIT), which reduces attack surfaces that effectively makes it harder for malicious websites to inject malware.

Along with this, the Enhanced Security feature also adds additional protection measures, such as Hardware Enforced Stack Protection, Arbitrary Code Guard (ACG), and Control Flow Guard (CFG).

With the release of Microsoft Edge (Beta) version 104.0.1293.44, Microsoft now enables the enhanced security protection settings enabled by default. The "Basic" option will be selected as the default option which will apply added security protection to the less visited sites.

This preserves the user experience for the most popular sites on the web, says Microsoft in its original release notes.
