What's new in Windows 11 Build 25163?

Microsoft brings back Taskbar overflow

With the release of Windows 11 Insiders Preview Build 25163, Microsoft brings back the Taskbar overflow feature.

This now comes with a new design experience on Windows 11 to offer you a more productive way of switching and launching an application pinned to Taskbar. When you have less space than the required amount, your taskbar will automatically transition into this new overflow state and provide you more space to view your taskbar icons.

In this state, the taskbar will offer an entry point to an overflow menu that allows you to view all your overflowed apps in one space, states Microsoft.

The overflow menu will contain almost all taskbar behaviors that the normal taskbar offers. This includes pinned applications, a jump list, and an extended UI. Once you invoke the overflow and click outside of it, the menu will quietly dismiss.

Enhanced file sharing experience

Recently the company released Windows 11 Beta (Preview) Build 22622 to the Windows Insiders in the Beta Channel, which enhances the local file sharing experience. Now, the company is rolling out this feature to the insiders in the Dev Channel too.

With this latest build (25163), Microsoft improves the discovery of nearby devices at the time of sharing a local file from the desktop, File Explorer, Photos, Snipping Tool, Xbox, and other apps that use the built-in Windows share window.

It now uses UDP along with Bluetooth to discover nearby devices, which will result in the discovery of more devices.

This build also improves the local file sharing to the OneDrive account. You can now directly upload the file to OneDrive and share it with others, and provide access rights at the time of sharing.

This feature will be accessible from the desktop, File Explorer, Photos, Snipping Tool, Xbox, and other apps that use the built-in Windows share window.
