Microsoft is currently testing a new taskbar feature on Windows 10, called News and Interests. As of now, the feature was being tested by the Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel. Now, the company is bringing it to all insiders running Dev, Beta, and Release Preview channels.

That means, if you are running Windows 10 October 2020 Update (version 20H2) or higher, you will get this "News and Interests" feature running on your system quite very soon, and get all the latest news launched directly from the Windows 10 Taskbar.

News and Interests feature is coming to Windows 10 version 20H2, 21H1

In early January 2021, Microsoft announced a brand new feature called "News and Interests" for Windows 10. The feature was first previewed with Windows 10 Preview Build 21286. As part of this update, Microsoft added quick access to an integrated feed of dynamic content, which includes news and weather updates that regularly update throughout the day.

Later, in mid-January, Microsoft adds improvements to Windows 10's new taskbar experience with Windows 10 Preview Build 21292. With that build, it started providing you the real-time traffic conditions and alerts throughout the day. Along with this, the company also added a weather card that redirects you to a full-page view of the weather which includes the current temperature, wind, humidity level, and hourly predictions for the day, along with a 10-day forecast.

In mid of February, Microsoft expanded the "News and Interests" feature on Windows 10 Taskbar to more international markets. It now automatically detects your language and location to deliver a localized experience from local publishers and data providers.

Microsoft recently releases a cumulative update (Windows 10 Build 19042.962) to the Windows Insiders in the Release Preview Channel. This update is for those who are running Windows 10 October 2020 Update (version 20H2).

Microsoft also releases another cumulative update (Windows 10 Build 19043.962) to the Windows Insiders in the Beta Channel. This build is for Windows 10 verion 21H1, and is meant for pre-release validation in commercial environments.

Windows 10 version 21H1 is said to be release soon, in the first half of 2021. It will be available as enablement package. If you want to test it early, you will need to join the Windows Insiders program and grab the latest update from the Dev, Beta or Release Preview channel. Do note that the feature is currently available in the US, UK, Canada, Australia and India only.
