Last year, Microsoft confirmed that a new standalone version of Microsoft Office for both Windows and Mac will be released for the consumers in the second half of 2021. Now the company announced more about this upcoming commercial preview of Microsoft Office LTSC (Long Term Support Candidate) and said that it will bring Office and Windows into alignment in support of the same limited scenarios.

While Microsoft didn't yet detail all the changes to Office 2021, it did mention that Dark Mode will be supported and it will include accessibility improvements, capabilities like Dynamic Arrays & XLOOKUP in Excel, and performance improvements across all Office applications.

Microsoft announces Office 2021, LTSC offerings for Windows and macOS

As with previous releases, Office LTSC will still be a device-based "perpetual" license. We designed it as a specialty product intended for specific scenarios and will increase the price of Office Professional Plus, Office Standard, and the individual apps by up to 10 percent at the time of general availability, Microsoft said in the official announcement.

Microsoft also said that the commercial preview of Office 2021 (LTSC) will be available in April 2021.
