Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.2020.0 comes with improved screen snipping experience

For the last couple of months, Microsoft is testing a new way of adding new features to Windows 10. This is called Windows Experience Feature Packs. These updates are being used to deliver new feature improvements to Windows 10 customers without releasing the bi-annual major feature updates. Currently, only a limited set of features are being developed which are independent of the OS releases.

In December 2020, Microsoft released Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.1070.0 to the Windows Insiders in the Beta channel which adds two improvements to users running Windows 10 version 20H2 build 19042.662 or higher.

Now, the company is releasing another Feature pack to the Windows Insiders in the Beta channel, that adds reliability improvements to the screen snipping experience of Windows 10. Microsoft said that this improvement is especially for apps that access the clipboard often.

In addition to this, Microsoft is removing the capability to copy and paste a screen snip directly into a folder in File Explorer. This is being done based on the issue reported by the Windows Insiders through the Feedback Hub app. Microsoft said that they are going to re-enable this capability in a future update once they resolve that issue.

Insiders in the Beta Channel can go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates to receive this Windows Feature Experience Pack update. Please note that in order to receive this update, Insiders in the Beta Channel will need to have Windows 10 version 20H2 Build 19042.662 or higher installed.
