In October 2020, Microsoft took a new initiative to phase out Internet Explorer (IE11) for its new Chromium-based Microsoft Edge browser. Beginning November 2020, users navigating to sites using Internet Explorer are being redirected to the new Microsoft Edge if it detects incompatibility.

 

Initially, though the redirection is happening to a list of 1,156 websites, Microsoft is expanding the list to more number of sites. In case you are not happy and would like to disable the redirection, here's how you can prevent sites from being redirected to Microsoft Edge.

To prevent the sites from being redirected from the Internet Explorer to Microsoft Edge (Chromium), open the latest version of Microsoft Edge and follow the steps as mentioned below:

  1. Click the three dots (...) present at the top-right corner of the Microsoft Edge browser, and click Settings.
  2. Navigate to "Default browser".
  3. Under the Internet Explorer compatibility section, click the following dropdown and select "Never".
  4. Restart the browser for the changes to take effect.

Next time when you launch a website (e.g. automaty do gry online) in Internet Explorer, and even if it detects as incompatible, it won't redirect you to Microsoft Edge.
