How to get the Windows 10 October 2020 Update?

Microsoft says if your device is compatible, you will see the option to download and install Windows 10 October 2020 Update (version 20H2, build 19042). People running the Windows 10 May 2020 Update will have a faster overall update experience because the update will install like a monthly update.

To install the new update, open your Windows Update settings (Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update) and select Check for updates. If the update appears, and you are running Windows 10 version 1903 or later, you can simply select Download and install to get started.

You can also freely download the 32-bit and 64-bit ISO images of Windows 10 October 2020 Update version 20H2.

What's new in the Windows 10 October 2020 Update?

With this update, Microsoft brings the latest and greatest version of the new Microsoft Edge powered by the popular Chromium engine to provide you better performance, more privacy, and more value back while you browse the internet.

You will also get a refreshed Start Menu with a uniform, a partially transparent background to the tiles. This refined Start design looks great in both dark and light themes, but if you are looking for a splash of color, first make sure to turn on the dark theme and then toggle "Show accent color on the following surfaces" for "Start, taskbar, and action center" under Settings > Personalization > Color to properly apply your accent color.

After installing this update, when you go to Settings > System > Display > Advanced display settings, you can now change the refresh rate of your display. A higher refresh rate allows the smoother motion of visuals.
