Who likes to operate a system that runs very slow? No one, right? The way technology is changing, it's difficult to buy high-end devices every few years. What if your system was running with good speed and suddenly became slow? There could be many reasons behind this.

If you are experiencing performance issues in your Windows 10 PC, here are five effective solutions that will definitely speed up the system processes.

5 easy ways to speed up your Windows 10 computer

Uninstall bloatware and other unwanted software programs

Windows 10 comes with many apps and games. If you buy a computer or a laptop, it may also have many software and games preloaded. If they run in the background, may slow down your system too. This is often referred to as "Bloatware".

If you come across such software or games that was preloaded on your Windows 10 system, take some minutes out of your busy schedule and uninstall one by one from the Control Panel Add/Remove Programs if you don't need them anytime. This will enhance the speed of your computer.

Disable the slow startup programs from the Task Manager

It is most likely that some unnecessary programs run at Windows 10 startup time, which is slowing down your computer boot process. It may also slow down the operating system even after the system fully booted because those apps keep running in the background.

If your computer is taking a higher time to boot, or even getting a performance hit, follow the steps mentioned below to disable the slow startup programs from running in the background:

  1. Right-click the Start button or the TaskBar and select "Task Manager". Alternatively, you can press CTRL + Shift + ESC keyboard shortcut.
  2. Within the Task Manager window, click on the "Startup" tab.
  3. If you see a program that you don't want to run at startup, disable it either by right-clicking on it or by selecting the program and then clicking the "Disable" button.

Disable the background apps that you don't need

Windows 10 comes with many applications that unnecessarily run in the background always, resulting in slow system performance. If you feel that your computer is running very slow, open the Windows 10 Settings page, search for "Background apps" and turn off the apps that you don't want to run as a background process.

Alternatively, you can turn off the "Let apps run in the background" toggle to stop all the listed apps running as a background process.

Disable the special effects of your Windows system

Starting with Windows XP and Vista, the Windows operating system comes with Themes and special effects that some time slows down your system if you have an older device. If you are having a slow processor or inadequate RAM, you can disable those special effects to boost your system performance.

Follow the steps mentioned below to turn off some of these special effects:

  1. Launch the Control Panel and search for "System".
  2. Under the "System" heading, click on the link that says "View advanced system settings".
  3. Click the "Settings" button which you can find under the "Advanced" tab.
  4. Then click on the "Custom" option and manually disable the special effects that you don't need.
  5. You can also select the "Adjust for best performance" to turn off all the special effects.

Install a Solid State Drive or additional memory

Solid State Drives (SSDs) are next-generation drives that improve the read/write performance of the system. Installing an SSD as your system drive will increase the speed of the system and allow you to boot into the system several times faster than the traditional hard drives. If you can afford additional bucks, and if your system supports, it's a very good choice to upgrade to it.

Also, if you have less than 4GB of RAM in your system, you should go for an additional RAM to allow Windows to efficiently run your programs.
