It's just a count of few days before the Windows 10 October 2020 Update (version 20H2) finally arrives at your PC. It is already being aired to the Windows Insiders who are currently in the Release Preview Channel. If you are a regular reader of our site, you already knew about the features that are coming with Windows 10 October 2020 Update.

One of the few features is an improved ALT + TAB experience for Microsoft Edge. Though it is said to be a nice feature, sometimes it creates trouble. If you are one of those victims, like me, here's how you can turn off the Microsoft Edge tabs from ALT-Tab switching.

How to disable/remove Microsoft Edge Tabs from ALT TAB dialog in Windows 10?

Windows 10 October 2020 Update (version 20H2, build 19042.x) to have a new theme-aware start menu, a more personalized Taskbar for new users, an improved notification experience, a better Alt-Tab experience for Microsoft Edge, and more.

But sometimes good things come with a bad experience and the same with the improved TAB experience of Microsoft Edge on Windows 10. When you have multiple Microsoft Edge windows and tabs open, along with few other applications, it becomes very difficult to switch between Microsoft Edge windows, tabs, and other applications. It's my personal point of view, and your experience might be different from that.

How to stop Microsoft Edge tabs from being shown in the Alt-Tab experience?

In case you faced the same bad experience as I mentioned above, here's how you can turn off the feature and stop Microsoft Edge to show the tabs in the Windows 10 Alt-Tab experience:

  1. Open the Windows 10 Settings app.
  2. Then navigate to System | Multitasking settings page.
  3. From the right-side pane, scroll down to section Alt + Tab. It contains a dropdown, that is used to define the behavior when you press the ALT + Tab shortcut.
  4. As shown in the following screenshot, select Open windows only:

The above-mentioned dropdown also allows you to limit the number of tabs showing in your Alt-Tab switcher. If you are facing a problem with the switcher, you may like to limit it to 3 or 5 most recent tabs, and then if you are still having a problem, you may turn it off by selecting Open windows only as mentioned in the above steps.
