Microsoft is working on a new feature for Microsoft Teams that will intelligently remove the unwanted background noise in real-time. The feature is said to be using the Artificial Intelligence (AI) algorithm to filter out all unwanted noises during the Microsoft Teams call.

Microsoft said that it's an improvement to the existing noise suppression feature and users will now have more control over how much noise suppression they want.

Microsoft Teams to get AI-based real-time noise suppression

The improved noise suppression feature of Microsoft Teams works in realtime by analyzing an individual's audio feed and specially trained deep neural networks to filter out the noise.

According to the Microsoft 365 Release Roadmap, the AI-based noise suppression feature is expected to release next month (November 2020) for Windows desktop clients of Microsoft Teams. Microsoft didn't mention whether it will be available for Android or iOS clients.

Do note that this is an update to the existing noise suppression feature of the Microsoft Teams client. Users will now get additional control over how much noise suppression they want. The "High" setting is new and will suppress more background noise.
