Microsoft has confirmed that a new standalone version of Microsoft Office for both Windows and Mac will be released for the consumers in the second half of 2021. As that will come with a perpetual license, you won't need to pay any subscription charges other than a one-time purchase fee.

 

Along with the announcement, Microsoft also announced the next versions of Exchange Server, SharePoint Server, Skype for Business Server, and Project Server, which will also be available in 2021 H2. Continue reading to know more.

 

Microsoft Office standalone version (perpetual license) coming soon, Microsoft confirmed

 

You already know that Office 365 comes with a subscription charge. That means, as long as you are paying the monthly/annual subscription charges, you will get the new features, improvements, and fixes to all the products that come with Office 365.

 

During the Ignite, though Microsoft confirmed the release of one more perpetual release of Microsoft Office products, the official names, pricing, and availability of the standalone version not yet confirmed by the company.

 

"Today we are announcing that the next versions of Exchange Server, SharePoint Server, Skype for Business Server and Project Server will be available in the second half of 2021, and are only available with the purchase of a subscription license. Subscription entitles access to support, product updates, security, and time zone patches", said Microsoft.
