📢 Microsoft Defender ATP for Android now available on Google Play Store

In June 2020, Microsoft announced the availability of the Microsoft Defender Advanced Threat Protection (ATP) to enhance the enterprise endpoint security and help the enterprises to protect against phishing and unsafe network connections from apps, websites, and other malicious apps.

Though the Microsoft Defender Advanced Threat Protection (ATP) for Android was announced in June, the app is now finally available to be downloaded from the Google Play Store.

Is the Microsoft Defender ATP a free app?

According to the Google Play Store description, the Microsoft Defender Advanced Threat Protection (ATP) app is not free. The app is only for the business or enterprise users who have a valid Microsoft 365 E5 License assigned to them.

1. Automatically warns users of malicious, potentially unwanted apps and APKs that may get installed or copied on to the user's device.
2. Allows the users to easily find out if an app or APK they are installing is clean.
3. Automatically block malicious web pages that may be clicked from SMS/WhatsApp/Browser/E-mail
4. Automatically blocks malicious background connections from apps that may occur on the user's device.
5. Allows the security admins to create custom indicators for web protection.
6. Provides a single pane of glass reporting in the Microsoft Defender Security Center portal.
7. Enables conditional access integration based on device risk level with Intune.
8. Blocks devices that do not meet the organization's device threat level compliance policy from accessing corporate resources.
