The new Microsoft Edge is a chromium-based browser for Windows and thus the company also adding some features to Chromium core that inherits to both Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge, benefiting a large set of users.

How to enable Windows Spellchecker in Google Chrome?

 

Earlier, the Google Chrome and other Chromium browsers (including Microsoft Edge) used open-source proofing tools for spell checking. But now with the Microsoft Edge version 83, you can leverage the Windows Spell Checker which will add a number of benefits, including support for additional languages and dialects, a shared custom dictionary, and better support for URLs, acronyms, and email addresses.

 

As the feature has been enabled to Chromium engine, you will find it on Google Chrome too, and can enable the feature by following the simple steps mentioned below.

 

How to enable Windows Spellchecker in Google Chrome?

  1. Open the Microsoft Edge browser, and navigate to the edge://flags/#win-use-native-spellchecker.
  2. As shown in the following screenshot, select "Enabled" for the Use Windows Spellchecking flag.
  3. Click Restart for the changes to take effect.
