Chromium based Microsoft Edge browser will be generally available on 15th January. The browser will have a fresh new icon and new features. The release candidate build is now available in the Beta channel. - Story published by Kunal Chowdhury on .

During the Ignite 2019 conference, Microsoft announced that the release date of its chromium based Microsoft Edge browser will be 15th January 2020, with a brand new logo. They have also announced that the Release Candidate of the new Edge browser is now available to the insiders Beta channel.

Last year, in December, Microsoft kicked-off the Microsoft Insiders program and announced that they are moving the Edge browser from EdgeHTML to Google's Chromium based open-source rendering engine. In April 2019, the first preview build of chromium Edge was released to the insiders channel.

 

During the last couple of months, the Redmond giant has released couple of builds in the Canary, Dev and Beta channels with number of new features and enhancements. Now the company has decided to make it available in the public/release channel.

 

Currently, you can download Edge Chromium from any of three channels. The Canary channel gets daily updates, the Dev channel gets weekly updates, while the Beta channel gets the updates every six weeks. The canary channel contains least stable builds, whereas the beta channel contains most stable builds.

 

During the Ignite 2019 conference, Microsoft announced that the final build of Chromium based Microsoft Edge will be generally available on 15th January 2020 and that will come with a fresh new swirly icon.
