Google Chrome is working on a new feature that will allow you to Drag and Drop tabs from any other browsers that supports tabs. In latest version of Chrome Canary build, a new flag has been introduced to test the functionality.

Google Chrome may let you Drag and Drop tabs from other browsers

  • Google Chrome to introduce drag and drop tabs from other supported browsers.
  • A new flag has been added to the latest Canary build.

Google Chrome added a new flag named "Mix browser type tabs" in the latest Canary build and describes that it will allow tabs to be dragged between any browsers that supports tabs, including apps - Mac, Windows, Linux, Chrome OS.

Though the functionality is not yet implemented, but you can now make it enabled to test this feature once available. To enable the cross browser drag and drop of tabs, navigate to:
"chrome://flags/#mix-browser-type-tabs"

As it's not yet functional, it is difficult at this moment to say how feasible it would be to add this interoperability between browsers. There could be challenges when non-chromium browsers come into the picture. If everything goes fine, we will probably see it rolling out in future updates.
