The next feature version of Windows 10 that's going to release in early 2020, will allow you to control the absolute bandwidth for downloading Windows 10 updates. The new throttling option will reduce the burden in the slow network.

 

If you are a Windows Insider in the Fast ring, you can try this feature now with the latest preview build 18917. In this post we will discuss how to set this settings.

Along with Windows 10 Insiders Preview Build 18917, Microsoft added a new settings in the Windows 10 Delivery Optimization page to allow you to set the absolute bandwidth for downloading Windows updates.

 

You can set this separately for the foreground downloads (downloads that you initiate from the Windows Store) and the background downloads.

 

To enable/disable the Windows 10 Update Throttling option, launch the Settings app (Win + I) and navigate to Update & Security | Delivery Optimization | Advanced Options.

 

Then under the Download settings section, select the Absolute bandwidth option. Then limit the bandwidth by selecting the desired options as shown in the following screenshot:
