Microsoft today announced that the official name of the next feature update of Windows 10 will be "Windows 10 October 2018 Update", which was code named as "Redstone 5 (RS5)". The version number of October 2018 will be 1809. The users who are currently using Windows 10, will get this update as a free download.

Roanne Sones, the Corporate Vice President of Microsoft, in a blog post "Showcasing new computing possibilities at IFA" officially announced the name of next major feature update of Windows 10 which is going to release in the month of October 2018:

As part of this commitment, I'm pleased to announce that our next feature update to Windows will be called the Windows 10 October 2018 Update. With this update, we'll be bringing new features and enhancements to the nearly 700 million devices running Windows 10 that help people make the most of their time.

Windows 10 October 2018 Update will include a dark theme for the File Explorer, a new snipping experience with "Screen Scatch" app, a cloud powered clipboard, new improvements to Notepad, a new app named "Your Phone" which will allow you to easily drag and drop photos from your Android phone onto your PC, improvements to mixed reality, font Installation for Everyone, Power Usage details in the Task Manager, new update experience with smarter restart feature and many other improvements.

 

Microsoft already started working on the next feature update, codenamed as 19H1, which is scheduled to release in April 2019. Windows Insiders, who have opted for Skip Ahead, already started testing the builds. Though not major feature lists yet available, but you would like to check the new features those have been already released to the insiders.
