Microsoft extends support for Skype 7 (classic Skype) for some time, based on customer feedback


Microsoft announced that they are not going to discontinue the support of Skype 7 on 1st September 2018. Instead of that, they are going to extend the support for some more time until customers well accept Skype 8. Last month Microsoft announced that they are ending the support of Skype version 7, which will get discontinued from 1st September 2018. Those who are still using the classic Skype app will be transitioned to the new Skype app.

 

But the customers feedback was not so good with Skype 8 and thus the company decided to extend the support for some more time.

Skype 8, which is still in its initial stage and yet to address a lot of existing features, was not well accepted by majority of the users globally. That's the reason that Microsoft decided to provide some more time to the existing Classic Skype users some time before the next version is featured rich. In a forum post, the support represantative quoted that:

Based on customer feedback, we are extending support for Skype 7 (Skype classic) for some time. Our customers can continue to use Skype classic until then.
