It happened some time when a forced device driver update caused serious problems to Windows installation. This may happen when your device doesn’t support the driver updates that has been pushed and thus no simple way to block them.

 

With the Windows 10 creators update, Microsoft will allow you to include/exclude the driver updates during Windows update. Continue reading to know more.

The ‘Windows 10 Creators Update’, which is probably going to be release on April 2017 will have many new features and enhancements. Among which, one is the option to allow user to pause the update and the other is the option to exclude device driver updates. These changes are already aired to Windows Insiders in the fast ring settings. If you are one of them, you might have already received it.

 

With the new update (build: 15002), it’s now possible to exclude driver updates during Windows Update. To do this, open your Windows 10 Settings app and navigate to the Windows Update settings page. Scroll down to the middle of the page and click on ‘Advanced options’ as shown in the below screenshot:

While in the ‘Advanced options’ page, uncheck the settings ‘Include driver updates when I update Windows’ (as shown below) and you will not get any device driver updates with the next update check. If the option is already unchecked, you are already opt out of the same. To check for the driver updates again, enable this settings.
