It’s a weekend but the Microsoft Windows team is busy on releasing a new insiders preview build 14385 for fast ring users. This build is now available for both PC and Mobile devices, with a wide range of fixes that you might have waited for.

Microsoft released Windows 10 Preview build 14385 for PC and Mobile (www.kunal-chowdhury.com)

 

Dona Sarkar in her blog post, announced the availability of a new PC and Mobile build for fast ring Windows Insiders; a weekend build just after the release of Windows 10 build 14383 this Thursday. According to her, it contains few hundred of bug fixes but only few key fixes has been reported.

 

What’s been improved and fixed in PC build 14385?

  • You should no longer see a notification pop-up once a day saying that your Windows evaluation copy expires on 7/15/2016.
  • They improved battery life for Surface devices.
  • Microsoft fixed an issue resulting in Spotify sometimes crashing while playing music.
  • Microsoft fixed an issue resulting in the Google Chrome window being clipped on the top when maximized.
  • Microsoft fixed an issue in PC build 14385 with Mobile Hotspot that could result the host device bug-checking (bluescreen) and rebooting if it was sharing on a 5GHz band.
  • Microsoft fixed an issue where the pin prompt shown when connecting to certain VPNs.
  • Microsoft fixed an issue resulting in LastPass and AdBlock extensions for Microsoft Edge not showing the expected context menu items.
  • They also fixed an issue where the current tab in Edge might hang after exiting Web Notes.
  • Projecting to a PC auto-discoverability is off by default.

 

What’s been improved and fixed in Mobile build 14385?

  • Insiders were experiencing PDF interaction issue in Microsoft Edge on Mobile for a couple of builds, where you were not able to use touch to interact with the PDF (such as scrolling, pan or zoom). Microsoft has fixed this issue in Windows 10 Mobile build 14385.
  • Microsoft team improved battery life for older devices; such as the Lumia 830, 930 and 1520. Further improvement might be possible in future builds.
  • They fixed an issue where setting the SIM name on a dual SIM phone would sometimes fail.

 

Though they are stepping towards the final release of Windows 10 Anniversary Update on 2nd August 2016, but the build still has some known issues which will be fixed in future releases. For a complete list of known issues, checkout the original post.

 

Do remember that, Windows 10 Anniversary Update will be available for Free to those users, who had upgraded their system to Windows 10 on or before 29th July. If that time crosses, you need to pay few dollars to get Windows 10 on your system. If you not yet upgraded and have the plan to do so, it’s the right time to get it for free and experience the whole new Windows eco system.
