It’s Tuesday again and as I mentioned last week, it’s time to share top 5 links on Microsoft platform which includes few big announcements too. Above the fold you will find announcement on Handwriting in OneNote for iPad, followed by various other posts on Azure Machine Learning and BigData.

This blog post has been composed with the help of Microsoft. Share your views/opinions to Microsoft about the links shared below by dropping a line at the comment section.

Handwriting in OneNote for iPad and OCR everywhere

OneNote can help you keep track of life and stay organized by making it easy to capture anything, enrich and organize it, and eventually recall it when and where you need it. Today, we’re introducing two big improvements for capturing content into OneNote and enriching that content to make it easier to recall. First, we’ve added handwriting to OneNote for iPad. This has been a top requested feature, and is now available in OneNote across all of the most popular platforms, including Surface Pro 3.

Azure Mobile Engagement now in Public Preview

Back in May 2014, Microsoft acquired Capptain – a leading mobile push analytics provider. 18th February 2015, Microsoft announced availability of Capptain as Public Preview in Azure Mobile Engagement. With this preview, we continue our Cloud First – Mobile First journey by closing the marketing loop for app publishers and marketers allowing them to engage directly with all of their users. Azure Mobile Engagement is a SaaS-delivered, data-driven user engagement platform that enables real-time fine-grain user segmentation, app user analytics, and contextually-aware smart push notifications and in-app messaging across all connected devices.

Microsoft continues vision for big data adoption showing more love for Linux

Today, at the Strata+Hadoop World conference, we are pleased to announce the first Microsoft Azure managed service to be available on Linux, HDInsight. In addition to this, we are announcing updates to HDInsight, like the general availability of Apache Storm, that continue to make Hadoop simpler and easier to use. Microsoft is committed to openness, underscored by recent announcements including 20% of Azure Virtual Machines run on Linux, “Microsoft loves Linux”, open sourcing the .NET Core, our contributions to Apache Hadoop, and support for Docker containers.

Announcing the General Availability of Azure Machine Learning

We built Azure Machine Learning to democratize machine learning. We wanted to eliminate the heavy lifting involved in building and deploying machine learning technology and make it accessible to everybody. Supporting open source innovation and enabling breakthrough learning capabilities with big data were important. So were supporting community-driven development and the ability for developers to easily create and monetize cloud-hosted APIs and applications. Most importantly, we wanted our customers to easily leverage future advancements in data science.

And now that future is taking shape. Today, at Strata + Hadoop World, we are announcing the general availability release of Azure Machine Learning, a fully-managed, fully-supported service in the cloud. No software to download, no servers to manage – all you need to start doing data science is a browser and internet connectivity.
