A big day for the Visual Studio community. Today Microsoft released the preview version of next version of Visual Studio named “Visual Studio 2015”, along with “.NET 4.6 Preview”. It came up with lots of new features and tools for the developers including the open source community.

Microsoft today released the Visual Studio 2015 Preview, which you can  download from the below link. Along with it, they also released the .NET 4.6 Preview. Though the newest version of the .NET Framework is 4.6, but in Preview the version number still appears in some places as 4.5.3. It will be updated to 4.6 before the final version ships.

 

Before downloading and installing the said version, please do remember that Visual Studio 2015 Preview and .NET 4.6 Preview are for testing and feedback purposes only. This release is not intended for use on production computers or to create production code. If you want to try it to do some hands-on experience before the final version releases, we recommend you to install it in a virtual machine or on a computer that is available for reformatting.

What’s new in Visual Studio 2015 Preview?

Microsoft already published a big post containing what’s new in Visual Studio 2015 Preview. It adds significant value including cross-platform development in C++, the new open-source .NET compiler platform, C++ 11 and C++ 14 support, Apache Cordova tooling, and ASP.NET 5.

You can share feature suggestions on UserVoice, log bugs you find on Microsoft Connect site and send them a smile or frown from inside the IDE.
